Donald Heinlen Obituary

Donald William Heinlen, 87 of Bucyrus went to be with the Lord on Thursday January 30, 2025 at home following an extended illness. Don was born January 17, 1938 in Bucyrus to the late William Lee Heinlen and Mary Ellen (Haycook) Heinlen. He was married on August 7, 1960 to Linda (Ross) Heinlen who survives.

Don is also survived by children Cheryl (Sandy) Hadsell, Terry (Sandy) Heinlen, Todd (Leah) Heinlen and Ted (Beth) Heinlen; 8 grandchildren, Jeff (Krissta) Hadsell, Craig Hadsell, Daniel (Emily) Heinlen, Derek Heinlen, Kyle (Kristina) Heinlen, Kayla (Zane Sayre) Heinlen, Cole (Bailey Hill) Heinlen, and Carson (Lyndie) Heinlen; 2 great grandchildren Aubrey and Gavin Hadsell; brother Charles Heinlen; as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandchild Kristopher Hadsell, brothers Wayne and Raymond; and sister Barbara Beigley.

Don graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1957 and served 2 years in the U.S. Army. He began working at Swan Rubber for 10 years and helped at Archie Holloway’s Garage before retiring from Timken after 30 years.

Don was a member of Woodlawn Global Methodist Church and had Pastored at Olive Branch UMC, Sharon Holiness, New Haven UMC, and New Winchester UMC. Don enjoyed fishing on his boat at Lake Erie, playing euchre, and going on vacations with family and friends. Don shared his testimony and passion for Christ while serving on Lay Witness Missions for several years which included a Mission trip to Cuba. Don was an O.S.U. Buckeye fan and appreciated John Deere Tractors.

Most importantly Don enjoyed get togethers with the family and being with his wife, children, and grandchildren in the house that he built on King Road.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 am until 12 noon at the Woodlawn Global Methodist Church. Services will begin at noon with Pastor Sean McLeod officiating and being assisted by longtime friends Pastors Lester and Wanda Wilson. The family suggests memorials be made to the Woodlawn G.M.C. Memorial Fund or Midwest Mission, 1001 Mission Drive, Pawnee, IL 62558.
