Frank Saxton Obituary

Frank James Saxton, Jr., 90, of Crestline, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the Crestline Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. Frank was born in Crestline on September 29, 1934, to the late Frank and Lucy (Ruggi) Saxton, Sr. He married Anna (Crank) Saxton, Jr. on November 8, 1958, and she survives him in Crestline. He dedicated his career to the City of Crestline, spending forty-five years as a valued employee, until his retirement in 1986. A passionate gardener, Frank took great joy in cultivating his own greenhouse, where he nurtured plants and flowers that brought beauty to his home. He also loved the outdoors and could often be found hunting, fishing, or camping, creating cherished memories with his children in nature. Frank enjoyed hiking, building jigsaw puzzles, and taking part in all the activities offered at the nursing home, hobbies that kept him active and connected to the world around him. As a life-long resident of Crestline, Frank was known for his warm heart and welcoming spirit-he truly knew no stranger. He generously volunteered for the Crawford County Park District, mowing grass and assisting with community events, making a profound impact in his community. In addition to his spouse, Frank is survived by his three daughters, Lynn (Tom) Altstadt, Frances (Chris) Benedict, and Stacey Saxton; seven grandchildren, Kyle (Samantha) Altstadt, Josh Benedict, Jacob Parker, Jessica (Dustin) Norwood, Heather (Adam) Flick, John Parker, Teresa Kent, thirteen great-grandchildren; three sisters; Shirley (Larry) McClain; Phyllis Hoffman, Deloris Shaffer, and numerous nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his siblings, Amy Gantzler, Dominic Marsano, Joseph Marsano, Donald Saxton, and his son-in-law, Nathan Kegley.
