Gerald Hatcher Obituary

Gerald Eugene, (Gary) Hatcher passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 17th, 2025, in Newark, Ohio after a long illness. Gary was born on July 27, 1946 in Delaware, Ohio to Willard and Virginia Hatcher, and had a sister, Beverly (Gary) Alltop. Gary graduated from Dublin High School in 1964 and served in the US Army from 1966 to 1968. He married the love of his life, Chris (Koch), on June 19, 1967, who preceded him in death in August 2024. Gary and Chris shared a lifetime together raising a family in Mount Vernon, Ohio and retired in New Bern, NC before coming back for good to Ohio. He had and is survived by four children, Gary E. Hatcher, Jr. from a previous marriage, Kelly Strayer, Chuck (Angie) Hatcher and Carissa Hatcher (Leigh Trzcinski); six grandchildren: Barry Strayer, Kayla (Geordan) Doup, Corey Strayer, Chase Hatcher, Hayden Hatcher, and Alayna Hatcher; and one great-grandson, Caleb Doup. Gary was an award-winning Journeyman Lithographer and worked at BankNote in Dublin, Ohio and Printing Arts Press in Mount Vernon, Ohio. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the American Legion Post 457, 230 Otis St., Sunbury, Ohio 43074. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society and the Parkinson's Foundation. " in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart!
