Grace Ratterman Obituary
Grace Iva Ratterman, age 87 of Marion, passed away Saturday July 26, 2025 at the Marion General Hospital.
Grace was born November 26, 1937 in Plymouth, FL, the daughter of Charles Arthur and Hazel Erleen (Robinson) Moore. She received her education in Marion, graduating from Harding High School in 1956.
Grace began her career with Marion General Hospital serving as one of the very first EKG technicians. From there, she spent 27 dedicated years of service at the Smith Clinic. During her working career she was also employed by Tecumseh and was beloved by all she served while working at Friendly's.
Grace was an avid reader, gardener, and loved to watch the old westerns and listen to the music of Gene Autry. Grace was a gifted artisan. She created beauty with her hands by knitting, crocheting, and crafting intricate macramé pieces that now live on as treasured keepsakes in the homes of loved ones. Grace had a love for all animals and enjoyed trips to Killdear Plains to view the wildlife. She also enjoyed trips to the local Amish to see the horses. Above all else, it was her family that she cherished and delighted in the most. She leaves behind a legacy of generosity, selflessness and a devotion of service to others. Through her children and grandchildren, her legacy lives on in those who serve and uplift their communities every day - veterans of the armed forces, first responders, a dedicated teacher, a passionate zoologist, a talented chef, a skilled dialysis technician, a caring physical therapist, and a steward of the natural world in forestry.
She is survived by her son: Norman (Anne) Ratterman; grandchildren: Trey (Emily) Ratterman, Deana (David) Leach, Gregory (Kathryn) Ryle, Brooke Ryle, Christopher (Allison) Ryle, Galysa (Dustin) Davis, Hannah (Michael) Bezold and Charles (Kaytie) Ratterman; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; siblings: Jack Moore, Gail (Karen) Moore and Gene "Robin" (Jan) Moore; numerous nieces and nephews and two dear friends: Esther and Faye.
