Jeannette Fox Obituary

Jeannette E. Fox, 94, of Galion died on September 26, 2025 at Magnolia Terrace after a short illness. Jeannette was born on January 25, 1931 in Galion to the late Clarence (Barney) and Helen (Bartlebaugh) Lucius. She married Homer Fox on September 26, 1951. He preceded her in death on November 28, 2006. She was a 1949 graduate of Galion High School. Jeannette lived in Galion and was employed at the US Vault Company in Galion and the Shelby Wilkins Air Force Depot as a secretary. In 1966, alongside her husband, they founded Fox Plumbing and Heating. She continued to work there until the age of 94 when she retired for health reasons. She was a lifelong member of St Joseph Catholic Church in Galion. She was a devout Catholic whose unwavering faith in God was a beacon for us all. Jeannette was a proud member of the Olentangy Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, having been recognized as a 73 year member. Jeannette enjoyed working many charitable events over the years and was famous for her hot chicken sandwiches. She enjoyed extensive traveling, camping and knitting. She considered her family her greatest accomplishment and cherished the time she spent with them. Her family affectionately called her GG. She was also very appreciative of her customers and loved to visit when they stopped by the store. She had an amazing sense of humor. She is survived by her four sons and daughters-in-law and three daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Gary Burdine, John and Vicky Fox, Bill and Pennie Fox, Rick and Kym Fox, Sue and Steve Burke, Lynda Fox and Bob Powell and Dave and Alice Fox. She is survived by 12 grandchildren: Todd and Sarah Burdine, Scott Burdine, Brian Burdine, Tim and Sydney Fox, Nick and Nicole Fox, Mandy and Chris Ensman, Kristin and Matt Bohach, Pat and Megan Fox, Thomas and Tiffany Fox, Dustin Fox and Joy Racowski, Garrett Fox and Wyatt Fox. She is also survived by 20 great grandchildren: Max, Lucy, Carlin, Parker, Hannah, Olivia, Benedict, Theodore, Violet, Harrison, Maverick, Everest, Nora, Colin, Audrey, Zoey, Reagan, Lincoln, Atlas and Cleo. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Clarence (Bike) Lucius and sister Mary Ann Burger. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on October 16th at 4:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church by Rev. Paul Fahrbach with burial to follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. The Fox family would like to invite friends to a celebration of Jeannette's life immediately following the burial until 8:00 p.m. at the St. Joseph Activity Center, 115 N. Liberty St. Galion. Memorial contributions may be made to the Galion Community Foundation, P.O. Box 634, Galion, OH 44833, earmarked for the Homer Fox Family Scholarship Fund. This was established in 2006 to further Homer and Jeannette's lifelong commitment to the value of education. Donations may also be made to St Joseph Catholic School, 135 N. Liberty Street, Galion, OH 44833. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Lori Fannin, Dr. Christina Hickle, Dr. James Goudy, Dr. Mark Wood and Dr. Tom Zuesi for their excellent care of their mother over the years. In addition, they are grateful to the staff at Magnolia Terrace for their loving care, especially Abby and Rikki. Finally, the care provided by Avita Home Health and Hospice was most appreciated.
