Mary Massie Obituary

Mary Sue Massie, age 77 of Gulf Breeze, Florida, formerly of Marion passed away Thursday August 14, 2025. Mary was born November 30, 1947 in Paintsville, Kentucky, the daughter of Hurcel and Della Mae (Pennington) Conley. On July 13, 1974 she was united in marriage to Ernest Eugene Massie. Her favorite thing in the world was simply being with family. Whether gathered around the table for a board game, sitting in the stands cheering on her children and grandchildren at their sporting events, or sharing quiet moments at home, Mary found her greatest happiness in the company of those she loved. A devoted member of Pleasant Wesleyan Church in Marion, Mary's faith was a steady foundation throughout her life. She was also an enthusiastic fan of football, cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mary's legacy is one of love, laughter, and loyal support - the kind that leaves an indelible mark on all who were lucky enough to know her. She is survived by her children: Ernest "Jay" (Jamie) Massie, Jr., Bryan (Alice) Massie, Debbi (Mitchell) Eben, Trina (Steven) Marchionne, and Teresa Murdy; grandchildren: David, Justin (Ashely), Michaela, Meagan, Austin (Brittany), Alexandra, Alondra, Madison, Morgan, Matthew, Jason, Tyler, Brendan, Nadia, and Gage; great-grandchildren: Bradley, Adilynn, Hayden, Sophia, Aiden, Ryker, Grayson, Isla and Ashton; and siblings: Tilford Ray (Dot) Conley, Terry Conley, and Perry (Letitia) Conley. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; husband Ernest "Gene" Massie and siblings: Ernie, Catherine, and Kenny. Visitation will be held Friday, August 22, 2025 at Snyder Funeral Homes, GUNDER/HALL Chapel, 347 West Center Street, Marion from 1PM to 2PM; funeral service will follow at 2PM; burial will be in Marion Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Emerald Coast Hospice for their compassionate care, especially Nurse Lucy and CNA Sheila, whose kindness and dedication brought comfort during Mary's final days. If desired, donations may be made to American Cancer Society. The Snyder Funeral Homes of Marion are honored to serve the Massie family; condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.SnyderFuneralHomes.com
