Michael Banks Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael Banks to his heavenly home with Jesus. He was a beloved soul whose warmth, creativity, and culinary flair touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. Michael passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and laughter. He was born August 10, 1953 in Savannah, Georgia to the late Bob and Wilma (Rose) Banks. In 1973 he married the love of his life, Karen (Hughes) Banks. Michael was employed with Bob Evans for 37 years before his retirement. Michael was a man of humbleness and quiet strength. His passion was sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ at every opportunity. He found his calling in the Bible (Luke 24:46-48). Michael was best known as "The Grill Master and Omelet King," titles he wore with pride and a touch of humor. He loved serving his family and friends with his culinary talents. More than his talents, it was Michael's generous spirit, quiet wit, and unwavering kindness that left the deepest impression. He loved just talking to people, especially about the word of God. His laughter was a welcome presence, he would always send a birthday wish to family members and friends a day before their birthday and post to Facebook an unintentional unflattering photo. In his spare time, he loved watching sports especially the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians/Browns. He also enjoyed taking part in a fantasy football league, which was known as "The Juan". Michael's absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled, but his light lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. As we remember him, we honor a life lived with creativity, service, and love. He is survived by those who adored him, his wife, Karen Banks of Prospect, OH., his daughters, Amy (Robert) Hillard of Hilliard, OH., Kaitlin (Joseph) Glazier of Massillon, OH., his seven grandchildren, Sophie, Samantha, Alyson, Maya, Phoenix, Nadiah, Ezra, his sister, Kathy (Jerry) Mullins, sister-in-law, Cheryl Blagg and three nieces, cousins and extended family and friends. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Wilma Banks and his brother, Rick Banks. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 10:30 am to 12 noon at Cornerstone Alliance Church, 2010 Marion-Marysville Rd. Marion, Ohio 43302. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon at the church with Pastor Peter Rufener officiating. Burial will take place at Marion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations are to be made to The American Red Cross or donate blood to help someone in need as blood donation saved his life more than once.
