Raymond E Bloomfield

Raymond E. "Ray" Bloomfield, age 82 of Marion, passed away Tuesday September 16, 2025 at his home surrounded by family. Ray was born December 15, 1942 in Vanceburg, KY, the son of Ernest and Ruby (Lewis) Bloomfield. Ray ventured to Ohio at the young age of 16. He worked several factory jobs, but under the guidance and apprenticeship of Harold Buhler he learned masonry and carpentry. He later started his own business, H & B Masonry along with M & R Rentals. Ray was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Rotary, Marion Area Rental Association and the Gyro Club. He was especially proud of 48 years and 9 months in AA. Ray loved to play golf and games, especially card games. He enjoyed his winters in Florida which allowed him the opportunity to golf year around. He also enjoyed precious time at his cabin in Kentucky. Listening to gospel music was also something that brought Ray great joy. Ray is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Ann Bloomfield; children: Tamera (Scott) Swartz of Galion, Regina Swartz of Iowa; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Marcella Heydinger, Helen White, and Ron Bloomfield. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Thersa Bloomfield and siblings: Everett Bloomfield, Willard Bloomfield, Geneva Robinson, Mary Davis, Jeanetta Hall, Anna McGlone and Rosa King. Visitation will be Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Snyder Funeral Homes, Gunder/Hall Chapel, 347 West Center St., Marion from 4PM to 7PM; Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 251 North Main St., Marion at 10:30AM with Fr. Daniel Colby officiating; burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul or Marion Community Foundation, South State St. Marion, Ohio for the purpose of establishing a charitable fund in memory of Raymond E. Bloomfield to fund and support education and training in the construction trades.
