Richard "Gino" Eugene Gregory Sr., age 76 of Maryville TN formerly of Bucyrus, Ohio passed away Monday May 12, 2025 at home peacefully in the arms of his family. Gino was born November 28, 1948 in Oak Hill, Ohio to the late Raymond E. and Mable May (Elste) Gregory. Gino was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Deb (Sexton) Gregory; brothers, Charles Edward Gregory, William Spradlin, and Edward Gregory; sisters, Frances Sugden, Alberta (Bert) Hensley; and 2 sons.
Gino is survived by his children, Kim (Tony) Baumgardner of Virginia Beach, Tom (Amy) Detillion of Pennington Gap, Virginia, Sherry Robinson of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, Richard "Gino" Gregory Jr. (Chasity) of Maryville, Tennessee, Shane Detillion of Somerset, Kentucky, and Matthew (Jamie) Detillion of Concord Twp, Ohio; brothers, George (Velma) Gregory of Shreveport, LA, Fred (Melody) Gregory of Lake Placid, FL; sisters, Donna (Mike) Dickens of North Carolina, Dorothy (Shawn) Harris of Summerfield, NC; 19 grandchildren, 20 plus great grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews as well as extended family members.
Gino left behind a legacy of love and courage. A Vietnam veteran, he was deployed on two tours with the US Army’s Black Scarves Unit. He was awarded many medals, among them, the Purple Heart. He served our Country with valor. His devotion to his country reflected his deep commitment to protecting those around him.
After returning home, Gino built a life rooted in hard work, compassion, and connection. A gifted salesman, his charisma and honesty earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him.
Gino was the most amazing dad, husband, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, flea marketing, selling you anything and everything. He was also an avid Baltimore Orioles, and an Ohio State Buckeyes fan. The infamous manager of the Bucyrus Merchants. He was a great mentor to all; his memory will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
The family will be accepting friends at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home Friday May 16, from 4PM-7pm. The family is also accepting friends Saturday morning at Munz-Pirnstill from 10:30AM-11:30AM. There will be a military honors service at 11:30 then we will proceed to Danville Ohio from Munz-Pirnstill for the graveside committal service at 1:30PM. Ted Thomas is officiating services, interment at Workman’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior. Moments of remembrance may be left online at www.munzpirnstill.com
