Douglas Dwight Gregory Sr.

Born: August 2, 1944 | Died: September 12, 2025

Doug Gregory, 81, of Maryville, Tennessee passed away peacefully at his home, on Friday Sept 12, 2025, with his loving wife by his side. Born the fourth of five sons, he grew up on a farm in the Chilhowee View community where he learned the values of family, faith and perseverance. Doug graduated from Walland High School in the class of 1962 and an electronics school in Louisville, Ky. He served in the U. S. Army in Viet Nam in 1966 & 1967 and 2 years in the National Guard. Doug retired from Xerox Corporation in 2001 with 33 years service.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Rose Gregory, brothers, Lowell, Wayne, and Kenneth.

Doug is survived by his wife of 32 years, Brenda Butler Gregory; 2 sons, Doug Jr. (Darlene)and Mike; and grandsons; Scottie and Ryan and 1 great grandchild. He is survived by his wife's 2 daughters, Angela McLemore and Dena (Michael) Knight and their families. He is also survived by his brother, Cline (Elaine) Gregory, and sister-in-law Wilma Gregory; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Doug lived a full and meaningful life, he will be remembered for his love of life, adventure and fun. A man of creativity and determination, he built boats, race cars, rail buggies, and could fly a small airplane. Doug had a strong work ethic, he worked hard and played hard. He enjoyed camping, restoring cars, all forms of racing, NASCAR and being with family and friends. Everybody that knew Doug has a story to tell about how he touched their life.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the Smith Pavilion with a Celebration of Doug's life to follow at 7:00 PM. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery for the interment service and burial.
