Daniel Ankney Obituary
He was born on October 19, 1954, to the late Simon and Violet (Goodwin) Ankney in Defiance, Ohio. Dan worked as a truck driver for H. E. Rudy Trucking for 20 years until his retirement in 2022. On July 22, 1988, he married Jodi Ward and she survives. Dan enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, listening to music and playing his guitar and drums. He also enjoyed working on the house and repairing cars. Dan was a true family man and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Dan will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Jodi Ankney of Defiance, daughter, Danielle Washington of Bryan, son, Wes Ankney and daughter, Joanna Rios, both of Defiance, step-son, Brian Bailey of Lima, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, brothers, Jim (Ruth) Ankney of Holgate, David Ankney of Defiance, twin brother Dennis (Rosie) Ankney of Hicksville and Bill Ankney of Defiance and his beloved dog, Sophie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Andrew Ankney, sister, Kim Lorraine Epple and brother, Thomas Ankney.
There will be a celebration of life service on Friday, April 7, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the Defiance AMVETS Post 1991. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.

He was my cousin we had fun when we were kids with his brothers David and Dennis. Worked on some cars and just ran around and had fun together. Wish we had spent more time together.
