Glen Schlachter Obituary

DEFIANCE - Glen E. Schlachter, age 75 of Defiance, passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at The Laurels of Defiance.

He was born on May 4, 1948, to Virgil and Audrey (Spitler) Schlachter in Tiffin, Ohio. In 1966 Glen graduated from New Riegel High School, and later that year he married Susan Reinhart. He attended Defiance College where he played basketball. Glen worked at General Motors in Defiance for 47 years until his retirement. He was a member of VFW #3360. In his leisure time he enjoyed hunting with his family and fishing on Lake Erie with his brother Clair. Glen will be greatly missed by his family and many good friends.

Glen is survived by three sons; Brad (Trisha) Schlachter of Defiance, Chris (Tammy) Schlachter of Toledo, Ohio, and Dean (Renae) Schlachter of Continental, Ohio, seven grandchildren; Ethan (Haley), Logan, Tyson, Harrison, Hannah, Gretchen and Graham. He also leaves behind two sisters, Nancy (Don) Kuhlman of Carey, Ohio and Faye (Laron) Baker of New Riegel, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Clair and Keith Schlachter, and his sister, Alice Smith.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Memorial Service will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating. His final resting place will be at Myers Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Craig McCord Scholarship Fund through the Defiance Area Foundation. Online condolences can be given at www.Schafferfh.com.
