James Leithauser Obituary

Bryan - James "Jim" Alden Leithauser April 28, 1937, - October 3, 2025

James "Jim" Alden Leithauser, 88, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife, Nadine, and granddaughter, Alicia. Born on April 28, 1937, in Sherwood, Ohio, Jim lived a life defined by devotion to his family, community, and faith.

A proud 1955 graduate of Sherwood-Delaware High School, Jim served his country in the United States Army, earning an honorable discharge. His strong work ethic shone through during his 35-year career at Dinner Bell Foods, where he was recognized annually with a Safe Driving Award for his dedication and reliability.

Jim's greatest joy was his 62-year marriage to his beloved wife, Nadine (Gisel) Leithauser. Together, they built a warm and nurturing home for their three sons, Scott, Joe and Jeff and their granddaughter, Alicia. Jim's humor, kindness, and unwavering care left an indelible mark on his family, instilling in his sons a deep love of God and a steadfast work ethic.

An active member of the Sherwood-Delaware community, Jim generously volunteered as a coach, ran the concession stand at Sherwood Ballpark, served as a devoted member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, and volunteered with the Delaware Township Fire Department. His commitment to service and his ability to bring laughter to any room will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Juanita (Gloor) Leithauser, his sisters, Leanna and Sharon, and his brothers, Robert and Peter. He was also preceded in death by his daughters, Kim and Kelly, and his son, Jeff.

He is survived by his wife, Nadine; his sons, Scott (Ann) Leithauser and Joe (Susan) Leithauser; his seven grandchildren (Alicia, William, Clare, Cate, Peter, Sally and Caroline); his two great-grandchildren (Caiden and Alden); and a wide circle of family and friends who will cherish his memory.

A celebration of Jim's life, open to all friends and family, will be held on October 19, 2025, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Delaware Township Fire House.
