DEFIANCE - Jeremy Ryan Thompson, age 50, of Defiance, went to meet his savior Jesus Christ on Thursday evening, August 14, 2025.
He was born on June 21, 1975, to Jim and Diane Thompson in Montpelier, Ohio. He was a 1994 graduate of Fairview High School and earned an associate's degree from Northwest State Community College. On December 2, 1995, he married the love of his life, Melody Hope Clemens, who survives. He was a dedicated employee of Sauder Woodworking for 30 years.
Anyone who knew Jeremy would say three things: he is a fun guy, he is an incredible doer, and he has a huge heart. All of these attributes were cultivated by his love of Jesus. He attended Defiance Christian Church, where he was an Elder, sound and technology leader, greeter, listener, handyman, and doer of any task that presented itself. Church was his favorite place to be other than in the presence of his family who he led with faith and love. He loved his children, and he has always been one of their biggest advocates. He has always been adored by all of his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Jeremy always had them laughing and feeling loved, especially, Miss Erika Jean Marie (A-money). He will leave an immense void in this world, but those who serve his Savior know they will laugh with him again in the presence of their Lord! One last thing Jeremy would say is "The Bucks better take everything this season! OH...."
Also surviving are the pride and joy of his heart, his children, Audree Brooke (Logan) Schlachter of Ottawa, Ohio, and Joshua Clemens Thompson of Defiance, Ohio, a soon to be and much anticipated granddaughter Daisy Marie Schlachter, three brothers, many brother-in-law's and sister-in-law's, wonderful aunts and uncles, loved cousins and many, many, blessed nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Jeremy was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Defiance Christian Church. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 11 a.m. with an hour of visitation preceding at 10 AM, at the Defiance Christian Church, 955 Standley Rd., with Mike Hasselbring officiating. Jeremy will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery.
