Lynn Charles Geitgey

Defiance - Lynn Charles Geitgey, 72, of Defiance, Ohio, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024. He was born in Napoleon, on December 5, 1951, to the late Charles and Elnora (Rettig) Geitgey. On March 17, 1973, Lynn married Sherrie Lynn Meyer at St. Stephens Church in Hamler, Ohio and shared 51 years together.

Lynn was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Defiance for many years. He received his bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Sigma Fraternity. Lynn worked as a Loan Officer for AgCredit in Napoleon and was actively involved in Henry County FFA organizations, 4H Clubs, Henry County Fair, Buyer's Club, livestock auctions, and the Napoleon Rotary Club. Lynn loved baseball, he enjoyed traveling to Florida for Spring Training camps and was a past president of the Defiance Baseball Association as well as a member of the Defiance Athletic Boosters. He also enjoyed gardening and vacationing all over the world with his family.

Lynn is survived by his wife, Sherrie; sons, Jason (Jenny) Geitgey, Jonathon (Melissa) Geitgey, and Phillip Geitgey; grandchildren, Gwen, Kyle, Emerson, and Sophia; sister, Patricia (Keith) Sealing; sister-in-law, Holly Geitgey, nephews, Matthew and Michael; and niece, Ariel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Geitgey.

Friends and family will be received at the Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon, on Friday, May 17, 2024, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 11 a.m. with an hour of visitation prior to services. Interment will follow at St. John United Church of Christ Cemetery, Holgate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Henry County 4H Endowment, Henry County Agriculture Society for the fair building, or the Defiance Athletic Boosters.
