DEFIANCE - Mark A. Flory, age 67 of Defiance, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born in Defiance, Ohio on January 30, 1958, to Kenneth and Donna (Snider) Flory. Mark was a 1976 graduate of Tinora High School and earned his Associate's Degree at Northwest State Community College. On August 29, 1980, he married Elaine Zipfel, who survives.
Mark was a faithful member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and a member of BAC. He worked as a Mason for 40 years for S.A. Storer & Sons until his retirement in 2019, and his craftsmanship lives on in many buildings in NW Ohio. In his leisure time, he enjoyed gardening, baking, and doing yard work. He loved watching war movies and taking care of all the dogs, especially his puppy Lola. Mark loved attending his grandkids sporting events. He had a tremendous sense of humor and was known as the silly jokester. Mark was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who treasured his time spent with his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and many good friends.
Mark is survived by his loving wife, Elaine of Defiance, and his daughters, Courtney (Aron) Schroeder of Galena, Ohio, Stephanie (Brad) Sines, Leslie (Randy Leitner) Flory and Mykaela Flory, all of Defiance, and Claudia Flory of Columbus, Ohio. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Easton, Corbin Braxton, Holden, Quinten, and Josie, his siblings, Debbie (Tony) Harpstripe of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kenny Flory of Defiance, Vicki (Tom) Shaffner of Grove City, Ohio, Kyle (Dave) Bauer and Julie (Dave) Creek, all of Defiance, and his sister-in-law, Sue Flory Brown of Defiance.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Donna Flory.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson-Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A Vigil Service is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 13 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with Fr. George Wenzinger officiating. Mark will be laid to rest in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.
