Melinda Shaw Obituary

Shawnee, KS - Melinda "Lyn" Fern Cunningham Shaw, 85, formerly of Defiance, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, in Shawnee, Kansas. Born on August 11, 1939, in Defiance, she was the daughter of Richard and Gaynell Cunningham. Lyn was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Patricia and Pamela, and her first husband, John Bingham Shaw. She is survived by her half-sister,

Beth Orrill of Madison, Indiana; her brother, Richard Cunningham of Aurora, Colorado; her second husband Ronald Jochim; her children, Jennifer Schmidt and Jonathan Shaw; and grandchildren, Caroline, Claire, Elizabeth, Jackson, and Spencer.

A 1957 graduate of Defiance High School, Lyn went on to earn her degree in Speech and Hearing Therapy from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She married John Shaw in 1960. Together they lived in Ohio, Missouri, and Kansas, where she worked as a Speech Pathologist for the Kansas City, Missouri School District, helping children overcome speech challenges.

After John's passing in 2001, Lyn married Ronald Jochim in 2004. Together they shared twenty joyful years of travel, family, and friendship.

Always remembered, forever loved.
