Albert T. DeMarco "Big Al", 80, died Oct. 22, 2014 in Worland, WY Al was born on June 3, 1934 in Derby, CT, the first born child of Albert V. and Helen F. DeMarco to whom he was a pride and joy. Al grew up living next door to St. Joseph Parish and Catholic School. He attended grades K-8 at the Catholic School and graduated from Shelton High School. He played football as a center. He married Barbara Rourke and they had two daughters. Al was dedicated to his wife and children and provided for them generously. Sadly, his wife Barbara, of 38 years died at the age of 59 from cancer. Al worked for his family's business, Shelton Laundry. He then drove tractor trailer over the road for a short time. In 1979, he got his dream job at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, CT driving tractor trailer trucks, later becoming a forklift operator until his retirement in 2006. He always commented that he had the best job in the world. He devoted his life to his Catholic Faith, his family, Jesus and the church. He lived honestly, trustworthy and was known for his dynamic sense of humor. He was a "man's man". In 1992, Al fell in love with his friend of 12 years, Cari Celeste. They were soul mates and married in 1997. In 2005 they fulfilled their passion for Wyoming by purchasing a home in Worland. It was their dream come true. Al and C.C. blended quickly into the lifestyle and community that they had always yearned for. Sidgie, their Labrador was Al's "Palzy-Walzy" and remained at his side even at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Barbara "Pinky" DeMarco. Survivors include his loving wife, Cari C. "C.C." DeMarco, daughters, Maureen DeMarco of Ormond Beach, FL and Kathleen (Joseph) Ballaro of Huntington, CT; one brother, Thomas (Jackie) DeMarco of Derby, CT; one sister, Marlene Sama of Shelton, CT; 5 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 3:00 p.m. Fri., Nov. 14, 2014 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church with Rev. Ray Rodriguez officiating. Rite of Committal will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
