I was surprised and saddened to read of the passing of Al Meehan. As a long-time Bridgeport Post employee I had contact with Al not only with the Fire Department but akso with American Homestead and Magic Carpet. My last contact with Al was about three years ago at the Bridgeport Post Office. Al was as I had remembered him... modest, unassumong and friendly. And that's the way Al Meehan will live in my memory.

My deepest sympathy to the Meehan Family. It was a pleasure to work with Chief Meehan in the communications room. He was a special person to know and who always knew the right things to say. He seemed to always put a smile on your face and always seemed to make you laugh. He will be deeply missed not just from me but from all of us who knew him in the FCC room.

Dear Mrs. Meehan and Family,
It was a pleasure and an honor to work for Al in The "Alarm Room". We all respected him as a boss and loved him as a friend. He was a gentleman in the truest sense. Always with a kind word and good story to tell.
My prayers are with you and your family.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the Meehan family. I have had the honor of working with Chief Meehan as a firefighter and as a member of the Bridgeport Democratic Town Committee. Chief Meehan was always a gentleman who loved his family, his fellow firefighters and the people of the city that he serve with honor. He was a great man, thank you Chief for all of the support you gave me.

It is with deep love and respect that I
celebrate in sorrow the passing of Al Meehan. Having worked in the Bridgeport Fire Department for number of years, I can say that Al had style, character and substance. These ingredients are not found in every human being. In addition, it is not how long you live, it is how well you live and the people you touch along the way. I celebrate Al
Meehan's life, because in knowing him I am a better person. We all love you but God loved you best.
May God continue to bless the spirit of the Meehan family.

My hearfelt condolences go out to the Meehan Family. In particular to Mary, John and Patrick of whom regretably I did not have the good fortune to meet, but feel I've known for so long through Al's many stories. They were always filled with love, pride and joy for each of them. Remember what you and I always said Al, "one day we'll all meet again in another place and time and you and I will still be telling our stories". Those stories we often shared with eachother and our friend Joe were always filled with laughter and memories of days gone bye. You're a great man, husband, father, grandfather and friend. To me and the many co-workers whom had the pleasure and honor to have known you, you'll always be thought of as a brave, caring and considerate person who loved his family and cared more often for those in need than even yourself. God Bless all the Meehan family and you Al now in heaven. One day we'll meet again my friend. For now, "so long sailor."
