Alberto "Al the Barber" Picone

Alberto Picone Obituary

PICONE Alberto Picone (Al the Barber), age 85, of Stratford, beloved husband for 48 years of Michelina Rinoceronte Picone, was risen into Christ surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 26, 2005 in Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport on March 28, 1919, he was a son of the late Michael and Alessandra Pisacrete Picone and was the youngest of seven children. Alberto lived in Stratford over 30 years, and worked as a barber for nearly 70 years. He loved his profession and the people that were valued customers and friends. He was affectionately known as "Al the Barber", and it was his wish to continue to work until the very end and with God's blessing he worked until the day he was hospitalized. "Al the Barber" loved to play cards and you could always find him ready to play a game of gin or share his gift of conversation. He will be sadly missed by his family who loved him dearly and they will carry his memory in their hearts forever. In addition to his wife, survivors include his devoted children, Michael Picone and his wife Laura of Shelton, Lucie Picone Gribok and her husband John of Shelton and Anna Maria Picone Gardecki and her husband Paul of Derby. He loved and adored his five grandchildren, Christopher and Allison Gribok and Kyle, Lauren and Rebecca Picone, his also survived by his loving sister, Rosa Picone Lepore of Stratford, and two special nephews, Constantino Lepore and his wife Zorida of Naugatuck and Carmine Lepore and his wife Lola of Stratford. He also leaves many additional caring family members and friends. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at 9 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10 AM in Our Lady of Grace Church, Stratford, for a Mass of Christian Burial. I found out today when I went to get a haircut. Al was my barber for 25 years. He was a kind and gentle man. Happy to live a simple life, cut hair, talk to people. I loved him and will miss him very much.
