Aldo Agostino Tinti
April 8, 2022
Aldo Agostino Tinti passed away surrounded by love on Friday, April 8, 2022 at the age of 90. Born in Bridgeport, CT on January 22, 1932 to Pietro and Amabile Manieri Tinti, Al was a graduate of Harding High School and the University of Bridgeport (magna cum laude). He was a proud Bridgeport boy and the first in his immigrant neighborhood to graduate from college. He later resided in Fairfield and Milford (Bay View Beach).
Al was a talented, patent-holding engineer who powered many tank and helicopter engines for forty years at Avco Lycoming (which became Textron and Allied Signal). He was an avid sunfish sailor, jogger, skier, and tennis player; and in his retirement, a self-trained whittler, Norwalk Maritime Center employee, and Milford Library volunteer. He was a loving son, a kind and compassionate big-brother to Elio, a wonderful and beloved husband, and a generous, loving, and doting father and Bapa.
Al was also a man of deep faith. He was a devoted Kennedy Center pioneer and long-time volunteer. He was so proud to have helped put the roof on the very first building on Williams Street when Kennedy Center was known as Parents and Friends. At Our Lady of Assumption Church in Fairfield, Al served as a Eucharistic Minister and as the set-up scheduler and head of the "parking lot ministry" for the Folk Mass. He lent his engineering savvy to the North Stratfield School Building Committee and also held a leadership role at Community Sailing of Fairfield.
Al was a favorite carpool chauffeur, FC soccer club manager, and Pine Wood Derby and Invent America enthusiast. He was a delighted champion of all things Italian and an honored, adopted son of Ireland. A gentleman through and through, Al welcomed all, was a great sport with an even greater smile, and was an especially good host to an extended family of current and former nuns.
He is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Mary Clyne Tinti; daughter Mary, her husband Dave and granddaughter Maisie; son Peter and his spouse, Molly.
A private Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Saturday, April 23rd at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Fairfield at 11:00. The Mass will be live-streamed - please visit the parish website:
