Alexandros Chirigos Obituary

CHIRIGOS Alexandros (Alex) K. Chirigos, age 74, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of 41 years to the late Harriet Maikos Chirigos, died peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2009. Born in Greece, he was the son of the late Kostandinos and Elefteria Chirigos. A resident of Bridgeport since 1960. He owned and operated a few restaurants namely the Plaza Restaurant in Bridgeport and the Acropolis Restaurant in Fairfield. In his later years he owned and operated a painting business until his retirement. He was a kind loving and generous man. His family was the most important thing in his life, his devoted children and grandchildren were the center of his love and spending time with them especially in the summer by the pool and waterfall. He was an avid gardner who enjoyed growing tomatoes on his occasional free time, he would take a day trip to the casino. Survivors include his loving family a daughter, Barbara Riehl and her husband, Franklin of Trumbull; a son, Gus Chirigos and his wife, Heather of Bridgeport; two granddaughters, Alexandra Riehl and Athena Chirigos; a sister, Marista Houlis and her husband, Yanni of Greece; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Panayiotis and Stella Maikos; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, George and Panayiotis Chirigos. Commerce-Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main Street, Bridgeport (on the Trumbull Line) was entrusted with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alex and Harriet Chirigos Scholarship Fund, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06604. Gus Ann Barbara,

I am one of the Wallers from Marina Apartments.it has truly been a long time. We just lost our sister Nikki last year and the pain of losing someone dear to you is unbearable.I remember your dad well.Keep the faith.tell Gus i will be contacting Reedy to give him the news.

Barbara and Gus

It has been a long time since we last saw and spoke with you both. Our deepest sympathy in loss of your Father.
