Alice Ervin Obituary

ERVIN Mrs. Alice Grogan Ervin, age 82, of the Southport section of Fairfield, beloved wife of 55 years of Robert B. Ervin, died on Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at the Carolton Chronic & Convalescent Hospital. Born in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late John and Alice Lyddy Grogan, she had been a Southport resident for the last 39 years. She was a member of the Ladies Guild at St. Thomas Aquinas Church; and prior to her marriage, had been a registered physiotherapist. Survivors in addition to her husband Robert, include two daughters, Susan E. Fetzer and her husband Kevin of Groton, and Laura A. Ervin of Provincetown, Mass.; five brothers and sisters, John Grogan of Lutherville, Md., Dr. David Grogan of Bridgeport, Dr. Joseph Grogan of Trumbull, Margaret Maney of Easton and Catherine Sorge of Trumbull; four granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Magner. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial meeting directly at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road in Fairfield, on Saturday, March 8, 2003 at 10 a.m. A private family burial will be held in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Calling hours have been omitted. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Ervin may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 96 Oak Street, Hartford, CT 06106 Rd. The Spear Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, is in charge of arrangements
