Andrew Trosan Obituary

Andrew R. Trosan
Andrew Richard Trosan, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was called home to Heaven to be with his wife, Grace, on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Bridgeport Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was 88 years old. Andy was born on November 29, 1936, in Stratford, CT, by a midwife. He was the youngest son of Joseph and Elizabeth Trosan. Andy was predeceased by his brothers, Raymond and Joseph, Dad's mentor, and his sister, Ruth. He graduated from Stratford High School and went on to enlist in the United States Navy, as a sonar operator on the USS Entemedor, and was honorably discharged from the USS Manley. In 1957, he married the love of his life, Grace, and together they built a beautiful life and raised their family in Stratford. Andy leaves behind three loving daughters: Tami (Kurt) Minich of Newport, NH, Ritamarie (Richard) Bouchard of San Diego, CA, and Andrea Hreschak of Milford, CT. He was deeply cherished by his six treasured grandchildren: Kristine Wooten, Tara Hartman, Amimarie McDonald, Courtney Copeland, Joseph Albert Hreschak, and Brittany Grace Hreschak. Andy was also adored by his six great-grandchildren: Tori Wooten, Conor Wooten, Benjamin Andrew Leahy, Taylor Grace Hartman, Cali Sage Copeland, and Henry Hartman. Andy was a dedicated father, whose primary mission in life was to care for his family. He took great joy in hosting family gatherings by the pool and loved cooking for everyone. Andy was the head mechanic at Trosan's Getty in Devon, CT, and worked at Sikorsky Aircraft as a water test engineer until his retirement. After retiring, he enjoyed working as a search and rescue team member out of Captain's Cove in Bridgeport, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. Andy was an active member and former Commodore of the East End Yacht Club. He planned and hosted many Saturday and Sunday night dances and is a life member of the Stratford VFW Post 9460. He served on numerous VFW committees over the years, including the House Committee, which he took great pleasure in. Once again, Andy planned and hosted many events and was also a bartender at the VFW for many years. Andy eagerly anticipated his annual two-week trip to Aruba, where he gathered with family and friends. He also cherished spending time in New Hampshire and camping with his family in Cape Cod. Friends may call at the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford, CT, on Wednesday, February 26. 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 26. 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. James Church, 2070 Main Street, Stratford, CT. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, 23 Temple Court, Stratford, CT. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Andy's memory to VFW 9460, 100 Veterans Blvd., Stratford, CT 06615. To celebrate his life, please visit us at www.galellofuneralhome.com

In memory of Andrew Tristan (Andy). I met Andy for the first time about fifty years ago. It was a rainy night when Andy & Grace came home from a night out together. They walked into the house kitchen to find me sitting at the table with their Daughter sitting on lap. I was nervous. To my surprise they were so welcoming. They introduced themselves as Grace & Andy. So the journey began! Over the years I witnessed Andy´s love for his daughters, his grandchildren & the family bond. Every year his time and dedication to bring joy to children with Santa at the VFW. Andy Tristan should know he Loved by his family and the friends he was surrounded by! God Bless you Andy in your journey back to your loving Wife Grace. We all Love you! Ed.

What a wonderful man! And what a beautiful family and Grace created. They were always wonderful company! Would always brag about Andy to my friends that didn´t know him how he was a submariner in the Navy an elite group of heroes. Some of my best memories with him was when Bobby Lambert would pick him up and bring him to the VFW and I would join in. The drinks were cheap but I´m not a drinker. I was there for Andy`s company he truly was a wonderful person. I remember when he was bartending there, just smiling all the time wonderful persona and he wasn´t doing it for the tips. just a wonderful person. Whenever I look out on Long Island sound from now on, I´ll think of him because that´s where he belongs, on top of it or under it! He certainly is tearfully missed! Teddy
