Anna Mae A. Canell, age 96, of Shelton entered into rest on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of the late Robert Francis Canell. Anna Mae was born in Bridgeport on May 4, 1927, daughter of the late John and Irene (Lavoie) Fitzsimons and was a Shelton resident for most of her life. She was employed at PerkinElmer for many years until her retirement. Anna Mae was proud of her Irish heritage. She was a ceramic fanatic and also enjoyed playing bingo Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family. Anna Mae was the beloved mother of Edward Canell and his wife Beverly, Robert Canell and his partner Julie Dube and Gail Jankovsky and her husband the late William. She was the loving grandmother of 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and was also survived by several nieces and nephews. Anna Mae was predeceased by three brothers, John, Ronald, and Edward Fitzsimons, and a sister Lorrene James.
On Tuesday, January 16th, friends may call from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. Her procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church, Shelton. Entombment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
