Annamae Zawadski Obituary

Annamae C. Zawadski
Annamae C. McNally Zawadski, age 99, four months shy of her 100th birthday, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Stephen J. Zawadski, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2021 at her home in Spring Village, Stratford, with her loving family by her side. Annamae was born on May 15, 1921 in Stratford and was the daughter of the late Matthew and Mary McNally. She was raised in Stratford and resided in Bridgeport for the past 60+ years. She was a graduate of Stratford High School, class of 1938. Annamae was employed by the Vought-Sikorsky Aircraft Company from 1942 to 1952, where she worked as a secretary in the "Flying Boat" Division and the helicopter was in the experimental stages and worked side by side on many projects with Igor Sikorsky. She retired to raise a family. After her children were grown, she returned to work as a secretary at Central High School and worked part time for Attorney Michael J. Weisman. In her younger years, she and her friends danced three to four nights a week and especially to the "Big Bands" that came to the Ritz and Pleasure Beach ballrooms on Sunday nights. She enjoyed her life. Annamae is survived by one daughter, Carole Nolan and her husband, Harold of Shelton, one son, Robert Zawadski and his wife, Evette of Stratford, six grandchildren, Melissa Nolan (Denise Porciello) Robert Nolan, Michael Nolan (Julie), Erin Nolan Kurtzenacker (William), Lauren Zawadski and fiancé, Anthony DeFala and Robert Zawadski II, one great-granddaughter, Madison Nolan, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by the "other pea in the pod" Mrs Lou Gianinni. In addition to her beloved husband of 60 years, Annamae was also predeceased by three brothers, Lawrence "Mickey", Bobby and Matty, and three sisters, Dorothy "Dot", Virginia "Ginny", and Janet. The family would also like to thank Jeanne and the entire staff at Spring Village. With a special thanks to her friend Robert who helped her with Bingo. Due to the current health situation, all services were held privately and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford. Since "Gram" loved her GrandDogs, if desired, donations can be made to your local animal shelter in her memory. To celebrate her life, please visit us at www.galellofuneralhome.com

To Annamae's BEAUTIFUL Family -
Thank you for sharing this "spark plug" with us these past years. Her laugh was contagious only exceeded by her persistence to stay involved in as much as she could.
BINGO will never be the same but the number 74 will always be called "Annamae" in her honor.
My time spent with her and many of you will be cherished memories moving forward.
It was an honor and a joy supporting Annamae and I am forever changed because of her and the love of all of you.

Having Auntie AnnaMae as an aunt was a treasure for me. Growing up I spent loads of sleep overs on Popular Street. I can close my eyes and see the house and always had a welcoming hug from my aunt. She treated just like I was one of her own. If I made a mistake I was called out on it. I also remember going to the house on Cleveland Ave, going in the pool and just hanging out with Carole and Bobby. I always cherished my time with Auntie and Uncle Steve. I always bragged to friends when she started to get up there in age. I started the year off with saying my auntie will be 100 on May 15th this year. I know you went on to a better place and will be united with many, many family members. Bobby told me how beautiful you looked and how at peace you were. Know that every time I will pass by the place where you were, I'll give you a wave - I'll always keep you in my heart and thoughts. Love you dearly.
To my cousins, God bless you both for having mom around all these years. Love you Carole and I love you Bobby.
All my sympathy, all my love and prayers are with you all.

I am so sorry for your loss. Ann was just a wonderful person. Loved talking with her when she came in for her Doctor appointments.
