Barbara Daley Obituary

Barbara McIntosh Daley
Barbara McIntosh Daley, beloved wife of the late William W. Daley for 60 years and a Trumbull resident since 1970, passed away on January 12, 2025. Born in Stratford on February 19, 1937, she was the daughter of the late George F. McIntosh and Mary C. (Wager) Mclntosh. She was raised in Fayetteville, NY, from the age of 10. In 1955, she graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School where she was salutatorian of her class. After high school, Barbara attended Cornell University, graduating with a BS in early childhood education. While at Cornell, she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and President of the Panhellenic society. Following graduation, she taught second grade in Nassau, NY. Barbara transitioned from school teacher to full-time mom upon giving birth to Christopher Michael, followed by Timothy Edward and Mary Ellen. She was active in numerous community and volunteer organizations in Schenectady, NY; Erie, PA; Reading, MA; and Fairfield County, CT. These included the Junior League, St. Vincent's Auxiliary, Ahlbin Center Auxiliary, School Volunteer Association, Christmas Tree Festival, Cornell Club, and the Kappa Kappa Gamma alumni organization. She was a devoted communicant of Christ the King Parish in Trumbull, and a daily Mass attendee. In addition to her three children and her daughters-in-law Denise Daley and Jenny Lawton, she leaves her five grandchildren and their spouses - Ryan William Daley (Rebecca), Meghan Claire Smith (Kevin), Connor David Daley, Emma Leigh Daley, and Cole William Daley - and sisters-in-law Patricia Daley and Guyla Daley, as well as nine nieces and nephews. Barbara and Bill spent many wonderful years together traveling to the Caribbean islands, Ireland, Italy, France and the Canadian Rockies. Cape Cod was a special part of the Daleys' life as they spent many fun-filled days at their home in South Chatham with their family. Barbara also enjoyed life with her three Jack Russell terriers - Kelly, Molly, and Nellie. Barbara could often be found sunning and reading at Canoe Brook Lake or in her backyard. When indoors, she enjoyed watching classic movies or General Hospital, which she loyally viewed since its inception. We will all remember her for her trademark year-round tan, positive attitude, and infectious smile, in addition to her red lipstick and weekly coiffed hair. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 21st at 10:00 a.m. meeting directly in Christ the King Church, Trumbull with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. My condolences to your family and may she rest in peace. It was a pleasure to take care of Barbara. She always had a smile on her face, made sure her hair done, and had her red lipstick on.

I was shocked to hear of Barbara's passing. Barbara was a VIP at Soup Thyme..whenever she walked in the door and stood in line I would look at her and say "I got you" so she didn't have to wait in line. Barbara's order was always a large Vegetable Beef Barley & Grilled Cheese on Rye. I always enjoyed our talks and she was very special to me. After Chair Yoga she always stopped at Soup Thyme. I will miss her. My condolences to Barbara's family.
