Barbara York "Bobbie" Parisi

PARISI Barbara "Bobbie" York Parisi, age 67, passed away Monday, December 27, 2004. Mrs. Parisi was born on January 23, 1937, in Habersham County, Ga., to Julius and Azalee (Sanders) York. She married Arthur Parisi on July 15, 1964 in Key West, Fla. He preceded her in death on August 6, 1988. She received her bachelor's degree in elementary education at Berry College in Mount Berry, Ga., where she also sang in the concert choir. She was a dedicated elementary school teacher for 38 years. She began her teaching career at Powers Ferry Elementary School in Marietta, Ga., and also taught at the Abbie Loveland Tuller School in Fairfield, the Curiale School in Bridgeport, and South Morrison Elementary School in Newport News, Va., among other schools. Mrs. Parisi attended Yorkminster Presbyterian Church and was a member of the choir. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Parisi, and her brother, J. Deral York. She is survived by one son, Daniel B. Parisi of Newport News, Va.; one daughter, Kathy Parisi Fagerland and her husband, Shad, of Toano, Va.; one step-son, Richard Parisi of New Orleans, La.; two brothers, John L. York (Wansley) of Marietta, Ga., and J. Garrett York of Dalton, Ga.; four sisters, Thelma Morris and her husband, Ralph, of Marietta, Ga., Carolyn Grantham and her husband, William, of Yorktown, Va., Glenda Cook, and her husband, Lamar, of Rome, Ga., and Sheryl Smith and her husband, Larry, of Cornelia, Ga.; and one sister-in-law, Mozelle York. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. in Yorkminster Presbyterian Church with Reverends Jenny and Feild Russell officiating.
