Baron John Camarro
Baron John Camarro, fondly known as "Barry" to friends and family, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, in Sanford, Maine, at the age of 80. Born on August 25, 1945, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Barry was the cherished only child to James and Violet Camarro. Barry was always quick with a smile or kind word, and those fortunate enough to count Barry as a friend will always remember his infectious laughter and his ability to turn strangers into lifelong friends.
Barry spent the majority of his career working as an engineer at Southern New England Telephone (SNET), where his colleagues remember him not just for his technical expertise, but for his ability to brighten even the toughest days with his wit and warmth, his easy laughter, and his willingness to lend a helping hand. His contributions to the company and the lasting friendships formed there were a source of pride throughout his life. An avid electronics hobbyist, Barry was happiest when surrounded by circuit boards and wires, sketching out plans for his next homemade gadget.
For the past 25 years, Barry shared a loving marriage with his wife, Lise. Together, they spent their summers in Naples, Maine, and he took great pride in the summer camp he built from scratch that allowed his family to enjoy summers up north. There was nothing he loved more than time spent in the company of family, sharing stories, advice, and laughter.
After a distinguished career, Barry retired and chose to build a new chapter in Stuart, Florida. There, Barry served as a dedicated member of the Board of Directors for his community, where his thoughtful guidance and generosity were deeply valued.
As a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Barry's family was the heart of his life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lise; his children, Sandra Stanhope and husband, James Stanhope, Jennifer Camarro and husband, Erik Granato; stepchildren, Rich Ministro and wife, Sandra Ministro, Gabrielle Theriault and husband, Michael Theriault, Michelle Ministro and partner, Matthew Dalvano; and the joy of his life, his cherished grandchildren, Julia Thompson, Ellie Thompson, Lucas Theriault, Max Dalvano, and Jaxon Stanhope.
Known for his generous spirit, humor, and unwavering kindness, Barry left a legacy of love and joyful memories that will forever be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His family and friends will gather in private remembrance of a life well-lived and a man deeply loved.
