Beatrice Knapp Obituary
Mrs. Beatrice Hyla (Schoonmaker) Knapp, age 89, of Naugatuck, died Tuesday May 14, 2013 at Griffin Hospital in Derby. She was the widow of Vincent E. Knapp. Mrs. Knapp was born in Kingston, New York on September 27, 1923 a daughter of the late Eugene O. and Beatrice Etta (Horton) Schoonmaker. She was retired after working as a sales associate at Bradlees in Stratford for fifteen years. She enjoyed doing embroidery, playing bingo and living life to its fullest.
Mrs. Knapp is survived by two daughters, Sharon Jean Hosford of Ansonia and Linda Haydu and her husband Mark of Naugatuck, a son, Thomas Vincent Knapp of Georgia, seven grandchildren, Dawn Porto, George Hosford, Michelle Zawadski, Richard Hosford, Michelle Krol and Matthew Haydu, fifteen great grandchildren, Chris Porto, Kaitlin Porto, Alyssa Porto, Deja Hosford, George Hosford, Jr., Felicia Zampedri, Alex Dean, Kendra Dean, Gabriella Zawadski, Jacob Hosford, Aaron Hosford, Joshua Pickering, Justin Pickering, Jonathan Harris and Mark Hanson, two great great grandchildren, Anthony Taccone and Gianna Porto and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Pamela Krol and a sister Kathryn Jean Ingham.
Private graveside services will be held at Uniondale Cemetery in Uniondale, Pa. at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Prospect Memorial Funeral Home 72 Waterbury Road Prospect is in charge of arrangements.
