Bernice Mealey Obituary
Bernice Ann Girgasky Mealey, age 92 of Trumbull, loving wife of 57 years to the late Richard K. Mealey Sr., passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2025. Born in Bridgeport on October 22, 1932 to the late Joseph and Anna Bunovsky Girgasky, Bernice worked in medical records at Bridgeport Hospital for many years, finishing her career in the birth registration department before enjoying her retirement. She was a powerful voice in her family, nicknamed "Bubbles" in her youth, and a teller of tales well remembered by her grandchildren.
She loved pets, including her beloved dogs and birds, and enjoyed watching wildlife in her duck pond from her living room window. She will be missed by all.
Survivors include her two sons Richard K. Mealey Jr., of California, Scott A. Mealey and wife Nina of Bridgeport, grandchildren Brooke, Scott Jr., and Lauren, and great-grandchildren Chase, Nathan, and Elvira. She was predeceased by her grandson, Adam.
In abiding with Bernice's wishes all services will be private with interment to take place in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield.
