Parsley, Bertha L.
Bertha L. Segala Parsley, age 93, of Fairfield, devoted wife of the late, Charles Parsley, passed away on August 10, 2013 in St. Vincent's Medical Center. Bertha will be remembered by her son, Dr. Gregory Parsley, of Fairfield; three grandchildren, Justin Parsley, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Kenneth Parsley, of Tampa, Florida, Jordan Parsley, and their mother, Marilyn, of Orange; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband, Charles, she was predeceased by one son, Kenneth Parsley; and siblings, Paul Segala, Dominick Segala, Catherine Bonvincini, Dino Segala, and John Segala. Born in Devon, Bertha was raised in Bridgeport, where she graduated from Bassick High School, and had been a resident of Fairfield since 1949. She worked as a supervisor in Bryant Electric to help the war effort during World War II. Bertha was an excellent swimmer, and taught swim classes for children at Seaside Park as a lifeguard. She also enjoyed classical music, travel and art. Bertha visited all the great museums of Europe. She loved to prepare different foods and bake. Most of all, she enjoyed feeding people when they came to her home. She was a kind, gentle, and loving person. She will be missed very much. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM directly in Holy Cross Church. Her interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
