Bette Gorin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and longtime Trumbull resident, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, at the age of 74.
Born in Brooklyn to George and Mildred Greenberg, Bette's life was defined by her deep love for family. She met Steven Gorin at the University of Bridgeport, where she earned degrees in Sociology and Education. He would become the love of her life, and they married, building a beautiful life together that would span over four decades.
After living in Bridgeport, Steven and Bette moved to Trumbull, where they built their lifelong home. For nearly 40 years, their house was the heart of family life, where they hosted Thanksgivings for both the Greenberg and Gorin families, bringing everyone together with love and warmth. Her home was the center of her family's summers, bringing joy, love, and endless outdoor adventures to her grandson.
She and Steven shared a passion for orchids as devoted members of The Connecticut Orchid Society, spending weekends nurturing their collection. They were avid gardeners maintaining a massive garden and greenhouse. Bette also loved antiquing, always drawn to the stories behind each piece. She was a member of the Trumbull Historical Society. She was a cherished grandmother, always present with a smile and leading with kindness and unconditional love.
She is survived by her daughter Rachel Gorin and son-in-law Preston Yip; her son Gregory Gorin, his fiancée Genevieve Cody, and her grandson Sebastien Gorin; her sister Susan Forman; her brother Melvin Greenberg; and her nephew Keith Shadman and his wife Julie Shadman. She was predeceased by her husband Steven Gorin.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Montefiore Cemetery, 121-83 Springfield Blvd., Springfield Gardens – Queens, NY on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
