Brian Vogel Obituary

Brian Nicholas Vogel
Brian Nicholas Vogel, age 35, formerly of Trumbull, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 1, 2021 in San Francisco, CA. Born in Bridgeport on August 15, 1985, he was the younger son of Mark N. and Donna (Caltabiano) Vogel of Trumbull. A graduate of Indiana University in 2007, Brian later earned his MBA in Finance & International Business from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. For the last 3 years Brian was employed by Dodge & Cox, a financial firm in San Francisco, where he worked as integral member of the Private Client Group Team. Brian had a passion for life. He was always loyal and devoted to his family, his treasured friends and respected colleagues – all of whom idolized him in return. He loved travel, new experiences, fine dining, long walks, researching cars, hunting for real estate, and expanding investment portfolios. He was an avid fan of Indiana University and St. Joseph High School sports. Brian was a visionary, was determined, embraced politics, loved a good debate, and nurtured plants. Brian was beyond generous, with family and friends. If you mentioned or liked something – it was yours, whether he purchased it for you or gave you one of his own. Late night deliveries from Brian were not uncommon. He was exceptional in his ability to connect with others, and was always thinking of, helping, or giving to someone. His magnificent and heartwarming smile will be emblazed in his family and friends hearts always. Brian was selfless and actively engaged in his family and friends' lives. When you met Brian, you never forgot him, and he never forgot you. Brian's warm personality, quick wit and humor drew people to him. His survivors include his loving parents, Mark and Donna, his sister, Christen Vogel and her husband Adam Buxbaum of Weston, his brother, Anthony Vogel and his wife Alexandra of New Canaan, his cherished nephew Grant Vogel, several loving aunts, uncles and cousins, godchildren Maxime Vogel and Jade Minar, dear friends too numerous to mention, and beloved family dog Brooklyn. Brian was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Anthony V. and Gloria (Vazzano) Caltabiano, paternal grandparents Martin and Rose (Simone) Vogel, and his uncle, Dr. John A. Caltabiano.
Interment will be held privately. A celebration of Brian's life will be held in the spring for all he touched. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Brian's memory may be made to http://www.cfnova.org/brian. We were so sorry to hear the very sad news about Brian. He was in my kindergarten class and I still remember his 6th birthday party at pinewood lake- we still had the magnet made there on my parents’ fridge! No words will ever be able to express how you must be feeling, but hopefully the beautiful memories will bring you comfort.

Donna and Mark,
We are so sorry and deeply sad for the Vogel family. We love you all so much. We have many special memories of Brian that we will keep close to our hearts. I do remember how close Brian was to his Grandfather, take comfort in knowing that grandpa Tony is at Brian’s side. Our families shared so many special times together at playgrounds, family parties and picnics as our children grew up together. We also have fond memories during the scouting years, many great and exciting adventures amongst his fellow scouts and scout leaders.
We are here for your family for love, prayers and support during this difficult time. We love you all so much.
Love Ginny & Brian Parker

Mr. and Mrs. Vogel and family, my sincerest condolences to you on Brian’s passing. Though I haven’t spoken to Brian in about 2 decades, I’ve never forgotten the little boy who made a beautiful valentine for NFL player Jim Kelly in 2nd grade, but crossed out Jim’s name and gave it to me instead. Some of my best memories at St Catherine’s include him in them. May cherished memories of him help you through this incredibly difficult time.

Brian and I grew up next to each other and were pretty inseparable when we were kids. We even got married at age 4 and 5 in a beautiful ceremony and reception in his parents basement. I have so many good memories of him
and in everyone I’ll always remember him as being kind, generous and funny. My heart is broken that he is gone too soon. My love goes out to Donna, Mark, Christen and AJ as well as all those suffering his loss. He will never be forgotten.

Mark and Donna,

Gene and I are deeply saddened by Brian’s passing. No parent ever expects to bury their child-it’s against the natural progression of things. We wish we could “fix” this for you...if there’s anything you need, we are here.

We pray for you, Brian’s soul, and your family to have God’s grace wash over you and enable you to pick up the pieces and go on.

Mark and Donna,
Gene and I are deeply saddened by the news of Brian’s passing. No parent ever expects to bury their child-it’s against the natural progression of life. We cannot begin to understand your grief and would do anything to help-just tell us what we can do and it will be done.
We pray for you, we pray for Brian’s soul, and we pray for your family to have Gods grace wash over you to begin to pick up the pieces to go on. Brian would want that.
We are here with hugs and love,
Peggy and Gene
