Bruce Smith Obituary

SMITH Bruce "Smitty" Douglas Smith, a 47 year old resident of Ansonia, passed away after a long illness, May 22. He was born October 27, 1963 in Derby, son of the late Rolfe Dustin Smith and Anne Dorion Smith of Ansonia. He graduated from Ansonia High School in 1980 and worked for Watson Foods. He served in the U.S. Army in a tank division for three years, from 1984 to 1987 and was known among his friends for his love of music as a guitarist and composer. In addition to his mother Anne, he is survived by his two sisters, Pamela Anne Davison of Bethany and Suzanne Dustin Constantine of Newington; two nephews, Brett Davison and Matthew Constantine; and niece, Erica Davison. A Memorial Service and celebration of life for Bruce will be held on Sunday, June 5 at 2 p.m. at the Unitarian Society of New Haven, 700 Hartford Turnpike, Hamden, CT 06517. The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, CT is entrusted with arrangements. (www.jenkinskingfh.com) In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the N.B.H.S. Music Club, for a scholarship fund for young musicians, c/o New Britain High School, 110 Mill St. New Britain, CT 06051.
