Candido Borges Obituary

BORGES Candido Batista Borges, age 83, of Bridgeport, the beloved husband of Aldina Borges, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 30, 2011 in Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in Sao Joao da Corveira, Portugal on March 15, 1928, he was the son of the late Antonio Batista Borges and Emilia Alice Batista and was a Bridgeport resident for 45 years after moving from Portugal in 1966. Candido was a laborer for Ardmare Construction Co. for more than 25 years and served his native country of Portugal during World War II. He Enjoyed playing sueca and rapa at the Vasco da Gama Club with his family and enjoyed spending time with them during the holidays. He loved his family and enjoyed praying the Rosary. He enjoyed weekly picnics with his daughters at Seaside Park and most of all he enjoyed relaxing and watching soccer. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, bother, uncle and will be deeply missed by all. Survivors include his loving wife, Aldina Borges; daughters, Maria Z. Teixeira and husband, Delfin, Maria Borges-Torunski and husband, John, Aldina T. Carmo and husband, Carlos, Candida Tenedine and husband, Joseph; grandchildren, Esther Elenea, Nicole, Carlos Jr., Cynthia, Melanie, Kevin Candido and Stephanie and fiancé Victor, Joshua Candido and Joseph; three great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Isaac, Antonia; two brothers, Joao Borges of Portugal and Duarte Borges of Bridgeport; three sisters, Ester Jose, Maria Lopes and Elizabete Carvalho; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Fernando, Jorge and Antonio Borges, and sister, Luisa Vaz. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff of Bridgeport Hospital for their professionalism, compassion and support throughout this sad time. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 8 a.m. in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave. Bridgeport and at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd. Bridgeport with a Mass of the Christian Burial. Entombment in St. Michael Chapel Mausoleum, Stratford. Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home. www.parentelauro.com
