To the Alber family, I am so, so sorry for your loss. Carl Alber was one of the kindest people, and greatest men in my whole life!
I am heartbroken about the loss of Mr. Alber. He was always Mr. Alber. My mom, Jean Wirth worked for him for 47 years. He had her name plate on his shelf with his Rangers stuff and every time I visited him it was a wonderful reminder of how much he loved my mom when she worked for him. He always came over to the house on Christmas and brought a Claxton Fruitcake! There was always a Diet Coke in the fridge when I visited, and he always had a candy for my daughter. The guy has been my friend for 48 years I guess, and I loved him very much. A very sad loss. He was a quality human being. I will continue to miss him.

A few days back, Walt Dobosz and I were visiting his aunt in Stratford. On the way home, I said we ought to drive by and see Carl. He suggested Carl wouldnt likely be working that day, but I can be pretty insistent (aka bossy). We drove there to find zero cars in the parking lot. Wait! Ill just leave a note. It took but a minute to slip one through his mail slot. Ill see him later in the summer I thought to myself.
This morning I came downstairs to the news my Carl was gone. Walt and I sat crying on the sofa together. His dad had known Carl from the way back. Carl had been our accountant from the first days of my business to the last. That he was a professional, sharp, ethical, insightful, and incredibly reliable is not news to those who knew him. That is far most than we are given to expect from most business relationships.
But consider that over the years, I found excuses to drop in to see him long after taxes were completed or before new ones were looming. I visited Carl simply because I loved him. It turns out that the day we stopped is the day Carl passed. I guessI knew in my gut I needed to be there that day.
I loved that office. Going to Carls was like visiting family. I loved it when he was busy when I dropped in. I could sneak a candy, gab with Jean or Sharon and then surprise their boss for which Id always be rewarded that legendary grin. We could talk forever. Okay, mostly I talked and he listened. Spending time with Carl was like having another dad. We laughed alot. I confided in him. I always trusted his counsel.
The other night I reached out to thank him, to send him an air hug, and to wish him well on his way. I miss him deeply already. Blessings to him and to the family he clearly adored. Walter and I send you love.

To the Alber Family,
I am so very sorry to hear of Mr. Albers passing. Your Dad/grandfather was such an amazing man inside and out. You will be missed by so many. This is not goodbye, it's see ya later alligator (he used to say that to me all the time when I visited my mom when she worked for him). I'll never forget Pizza Friday's at the office or the secret candy drawer. Thank you for letting me work for you part time on and off during the years. It has made such a positive impact in my life.
Sending love and prayers to all of the Alber family.
With Love, Bonnie Wirth & son Daniel Gokey
