Catherine Slonka Obituary

SLONKA Catherine (Kay) Volchko Slonka, age 89, of Milford, died on Friday, December 1, 2006 at her home. She was the widow of Joseph Slonka. Raised in Masontown, Pa., she had been a Stratford resident for many years prior to moving to Milford. She and her late husband had been the operators of the Pitchfork Inn in Devon for 25 years before retiring in 1982. They were recognized for sponsoring many local athletic teams. Mrs. Slonka moved to Milford five years ago and quickly adapted to living at Foran Towers where she made many new friends. Kay's outgoing personality touched the lives of all who came to know her. She was predeceased by two sisters and five brothers. Survivors include two beloved daughters, Kathleen Sulzycki and her husband, Al and Judith Laxar, all of Milford; five grandchildren are left to cherish her memory, Marc Sulzycki and his wife, Holly, Carrie Sulzycki, Joe Sulzycki, Scott Laxar and Adam Laxar; and several devoted nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Monday, December 4, 2006 at 1 p.m. from the Dennis and D'Arcy Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford with Rev. George Malitz officiating. Interment in St. John0s Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may call on Monday from 11 a.m. until time of service. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, Southern New England Division, 855 Asylum Avenue, Hartford, CT 06105. Attn: Donations.

Please accept our sincerest sympanthy on the sudden passing of your beloved Mom. Kay was a loving grandmother to not only her own grandchildren, but also to their friends. Growing up, Michael was a very fortunate recipient of Kay's warmth and affection whenever he was over your house. She will be missed.
