Clarence Tinney Obituary

TINNEY Clarence B. Tinney Jr., age 80, husband of the late Martha Washington Tinney of Hamden, died on Monday, November 22, 2004. He was born on July 30, 1924, in Ansonia, son of the late Clarence and Beatrice Roscoe Tinney. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he worked as a meat inspector for the federal government. He also worked for the former Sperry & Bonds Meat Packing Co. and was a member of the Lebanon Lodge #54, Prince Hall Masonic Lodge of Jamaica, N.Y. He was a former Ansonia resident. He is survived by two sons, Clarence A. Tinney of Tampa, Fla., and Gary Tinney of Hamden; three daughters, Barbara Tinney of Hamden, Ramona Bryant and her husband, Richard, of New Haven, and Michelle Tinney of New Britain; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his stepmother, Lottie Cogswell Tinney; one brother, Conrad Tinney; and one sister, Barbara Williams. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Jenkins-King Funeral Home, 12 Franklin Street, Ansonia. Burial with military honors will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Friends may call on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Connecticut Hospice of Branford, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
