Colman Lopatin Obituary

LOPATIN Dr. Colman Lopatin, age 95, of Fairfield, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2008. He had a long life filled with achievement in his work and at home. As a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and physician the word superlative falls short of his merit. His dedication love, generosity, and charisma charmed his family, friends and patients. His story-telling talents fascinated many eager listeners. The phrase "one of a kind" suited him to perfection. Patients became life-long friends. His family loved him without reservation. Survivors include his wife Frieda, his son Richard and his wife Gail, his daughters Laura and Rhonda, his grandson Jeffrey, his wife Amy and their son Tyler, and his granddaughter Alison and her husband Sergei. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. from The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home 88 Beach Road Fairfield with interment following at the Rodeph Sholom Cemetery on Kings Highway in Fairfield

Dear Rhonda...my deepest condolences to you and to all of your family. I remember your father's kindness and caring when he took the time one Halloween evening to take us to his office, so that he could stitch up my fingers from my pumpkin carving gone awry. I think we were about 12 or 13 years old.

Growing up, your house was my second home; and, I have so many fond memories of your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you now and always. Much love, Marybeth

Colman was a dedicated and caring physician, a devoted and kind husband/father/(great)grandfather (and uncle), and a terrific friend to all those who knew him. He will be greatly missed but fondly remembered.

To my fellow University of Georgia Bulldog who played under head Coach Harry Mayer! One word to best describe him: Generous - to all that knew and loved him.
