Ryan, Daniel J. Ryan Jr., age 78, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Shirley A. Hmursik Ryan, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2016 in Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side. Daniel was born on July 31, 1938 in Bridgeport and was the son of the late Daniel Sr. and Mary Valko Ryan. Daniel was a United States Marine Veteran who served his country proudly and was employed by Connecticut Light and Power as an Electrician. He was a Cub Scout leader, coached little league for the Stratford Original Little League and was an avid bowler. He is survived by four sons, Mark S. Ryan of Milford, James (Jim) D. Ryan of North Carolina, Scott T. Ryan of Maryland and Shawn P. Ryan of Alabama, six grandchildren, Jessica, Faye, Shawn Patrick Jr., Jonathan, Robert and Nicholas, one sister, Arlene Seranichand husband Deacon Michael of Stratford, two nephews, Kevin Seranichand Kenneth Seranich, one niece, Kristine Carroll, six great nieces and nephews and beloved family friend, Susan Jezierny. Funeral services will be held on October 26, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. DIRECTLY in Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1950 Barnum Avenue, Stratford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Andrew Marus and concelebrated by Deacon Michael Seranich. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery with full military honors.
