Daniel Turro Obituary

Turro, Daniel J.
Daniel J. Turro, age 67 of Shelton, husband of 45 years of Ellen Peters Turro, passed away on July 16, 2016. Dan was born on January 5, 1949, son of the late Daniel J. Turro Sr. and Margaret (Brangaccio) Turro, and was a lifelong resident of Shelton. He was predeceased by his sister Carole Wulster. He is survived by his daughter Christy, her husband Seth, and his granddaughter, Aria. He leaves behind several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law as well as twelve nieces and nephews. Dan was a successful local businessman who was well known in town having opened and run the Carvel store in Shelton, now the Ice Cream Shoppe. He had a strong work ethic, starting at the local family business, Danny's Drive-In. He was a talented builder who was always busy constructing houses, remodeling old homes, or doing projects for friends and family. Dan graduated from St. Joseph's High School in 1967, Sacred Heart University in 1971, and served in the National Guard. He was a competitive athlete, regularly working out, playing tennis, or racquetball. He enjoyed the movies, playing cards with his friends, weekly family dinners, and XBox with his son-in- law. Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM. On Wednesday, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated directly at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave, Shelton at Noon. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter's Cemetery in Derby. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (http://www.nationalmssociety.org). Online condolences may be offered at www.riverviewfh.com
