David Avakian Obituary

AVAKIAN David Michael Avakian, age 40, died on Thursday, September 4, 2003, at Yale-New Haven Hospital. David was born in Bridgeport and resided in Stratford for most of his life before moving to Old Lyme four years ago. He was a self-employed contractor. Survivors include his wife, Tina Avakian; his parents, Herbert and Rose Tashjian Avakian; one stepdaughter, Ericka, all of Old Lyme; two brothers, Harry Avakian of New Haven, and Steven Avakian of East Haddem, Carol Minardi of Stratford, three uncles Harry Tashjian, James Tashjian, and Benjamin Tashjan, one aunt, Doris Daddario; and 12 cousins. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Armenian Church of the Holy Ascension, 1460 Huntington Turnpike with the Rev. Father Untzag Nalbandian officiating. Interment in Laysville Cemetery in Old Lyme. Friends may call on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road. Wake service Sunday at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Armenian Church of the Holy Ascension.
