David DeBarber Obituary

DeBARBER David Richard DeBarber, age 65, of Seymour, loved and cherished husband for 42 years of Ada Atwood DeBarber, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 3, 2004 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Derby on March 23, 1939, cherished son of the late John J. and Eleanor Eighmie DeBarber. He was a communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd of Seymour. He was a U.S. Army Reserve veteran, private first class, having served during peace time. David was a retired route salesman for the Rental Uniforms of CT, where he had worked for 33 years. For the last six years he worked with his son, Matthew DeBarber, at PACE Wildlife Removal. He was a member of the brotherhood of Teamsters. He loved to travel, golf and fish, and loved all sports. Most of all, Dave loved spending time with his family. His loving family, in addition to his wife, Ada, includes his sons, Matthew D. DeBarber and his wife, Tracy, of Naugatuck, John J. DeBarber, and his wife, Laura, of Seymour; his daughters, Michele A. Cox and her husband, Raymond, of Seymour, Melissa J. Gilmour and her husband, William, of Thomaston; his brother, Louis P. DeBarber and his wife, Susan of Seymour; his sisters, Katherine M. Gabianelli and her husband, Frank, of Seymour and Collette A. Kowalski and her husband, Thomas, of Seymour; two cherished granddaughters, Ashley Marie DeBarber and Isabella Riley Gilmour; several nieces and nephews; and faithful friend and companion, his dog, Pugslie. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, John T. DeBarber Spec 4 US Army Vietnam casualty. A Mass of Christian burial will be held (DIRECTLY) THURSDAY May 6, 2004, at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour. Friends and relatives may call at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (Route 67), Seymour, (opposite Klarides Village) Wednesday, May 5, 2004 from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in the family plot at Mountain Meadows Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded. Expressions of sympathy in David's memory may be made to Yale Cancer Center, 333 Cedar Street, New Haven, CT 06510.
