Dianne Millington Obituary

MILLINGTON Dianne E. Millington, 71, of Fairfield died peacefully on Thursday, April 26, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Dianne fought a valiant fight against cancer. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Hoby, daughter Jennifer Vermeulen and her husband Jay, son Jamie and his wife Kelly Barnes Millington, three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jack and Ryan Vermeulen. Dianne also leaves behind many dedicated friends and other family members. Dianne had many interests. She was a Real Estate Broker for over 30 years most recently working at Nicholas H. Fingelly Real Estate in Southport. She was a member of the National Association of Realtors, Connecticut Board of Realtors and the Fairfield Board of Realtors. Her civic volunteer activities included serving as an officer of the Women's Republican Club of New York. She was an active volunteer in the Fairfield Public Schools and a Girl Scout leader. She was also a founder of PODS (Protect our Districts), member of the Greenfield Hill Improvement Society and former member of the Fairfield Representative Town Meeting (RTM). Dianne was an avid gardener, lover of books and supporter of many animal causes. Dianne is a graduate of Mary Louis Academy, the Wood School in Manhattan and a graduate of the Real Estate Institute. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 10 AM, meeting DIRECTLY at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to make a donation in Dianne's memory to the St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation, 2800 Main Street, Bridgeport, CT 06606, in appreciation of the outstanding care they provided Dianne. Please accept my condolences for your loss. I worked with Dianne at Raveis R.E. a number of years ago. We affectionately called her "Millie." She was such a sweetheart and funny too. I had not seen her in many years til I bumped into her last year while shopping. It was wonderful to see her. She will be missed as she truly was one of the good ones. Peace to your family.
