Dominick Quinto Obituary

Quinto, Dominick A..
Dominick A. Quinto, age 60, of Pembroke Pines, FL, and formerly of Monroe, CT entered the Gates of Heaven on Saturday June 13, 2015. His loving and devoted fiancé Marie Sampieri was at his bedside.
Dom fought very hard throughout his thirteen-month battle with cancer. His will to live, along with his physical and emotional strength, was truly amazing. He had such determination and a positive attitude in spite of all of his intense suffering, of which he never complained.
Dom was a great person who was gifted with many attributes. He will be remembered most by his superior mind, outstanding smile, and fun loving, witty, and charismatic personality. Dom's passions in life were his fiancé Marie (they were each other's true love), his career, football, mountain biking, and his cars. Dom will truly be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
Dominick was born in Bridgeport, CT on November 17, 1954, son of the late Dominick A. (Sr.) and Philomena (Vena) Quinto. He was predeceased by his brother, David.
Dom was a graduate of St. Joseph High School (class of 1972) and Western CT State University.
He managed Monroe Sports Center, a sporting goods store that was owned by his dad. He then went on to work for the Town of Monroe as the Director of Maintenance at Wolf Park from 1978 to 1995. He continued on with his career in Florida for the next 20 years in the same capacity at several of the Park and Recreational Facilities in Broward County. Dom was recognized several times over the years as "employee of the month" for his dedication, work ethic, professionalism, and extraordinary "hands on" management skills.
While working in Monroe, CT, Dominick was also a football coach for many years at Masuk High School. Daniel Brakefield, one of his former players and employees, said it best, "Dom, Jr. showed great character and toughness in his mentoring on and off the field." Daniel also stated "I have fond memories of every summer working for Dom. He made me laugh every day and was my motivation to go to work. I could not look back on the good memories of my teenage years without thinking about him. Dom was an outstanding representation of what a coach and a man should be. He was a man of great integrity, as well as class. Dom will always remain highly respected by his former players and colleagues alike."
A memorial service as held at the Scarano Pines Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home in FL on August 1, 2015. An anniversary mass will be planned for June 2016.
