Douglas Robinson Obituary

Douglas Robinson
Douglas J. Robinson, 60, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at his home with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. Doug was born in Stamford on April 19, 1962, son of the late Charles and Dorothy Robinson.
For 33 years, Doug served as a police officer for the City of Stamford. He spent several years in the Narcotics Unit before becoming a school resource officer, and most recently working in the Special Investigations Juvenile Matters Unit. In addition to his regular duties, Doug was also a member of the Stamford Police Department's Hostage Negotiation Team & Crisis Intervention team.
Doug coached the Stamford-Westhill high school co-op hockey team for 23 years, mentoring students in the community through his love for the sport. Above all, Doug was a loyal husband, father, and friend. He showed his family how to live their values and always made them laugh and feel protected. His presence will be sorely missed by everyone that was fortunate enough to have met him. You knew you were family if he called you "Cuz."
Doug is survived by his devoted wife Judy Robinson of Fairfield, along with their cherished children, James, Casey, and Kevin; his brother Charles Robinson; and a wealth of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews that Doug loved and treated as his own each day of his life.
"Loved by most, respected by all."
A funeral procession with a police escort will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 9:20 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield, CT at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, August 29, 2022, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.

Dear Judy, James Casey and Kevin, our thoughts are with you at this time of memorial. We fondly remember leaf raking, snow blowing, and the enjoyment of watching you all frolic in your back yard. We recall Doug with great fondness. We wish you a happy and peaceful holiday season.

Dear Judy, James, Casey and Kevin - I met Doug playing Stamford Youth Hockey. When we were 15, his father put together the first Midget/Travel team in Stamford. We played some local JV teams and even played in Canada and Massachusetts. We had a lot of talented players, with Doug being one of the best. He was a natural born leader and I loved playing with him. His love of the game was undeniable and it was great to see him behind the bench at Terry Conners sharing that passion with his players. I will miss Doug but I am so glad to have known him. With deepest sympathy.

Robin and I were shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Doug´s passing. We have many wonderful memories of Doug and all the Robinson´s, next door to whom we lived for many years. We send our sincerest hopes that peace, health, happiness and long life will be the hallmarks of your future as you go on. Just remember that the pain you feel now is proportional to the love you all shared.
