Earl Sifers Obituary

Earl Churchill Sifers Jr.
March 18, 2022
Earl Churchill Sifers Jr., known fondly as "Tuck", passed away peacefully at Bridgeport Hospital on March 18, 2022. Tuck was born to Earl Churchill Sifers, MD and Frances Schloesser Sifers in Kansas City, Missouri on February 2, 1947, and was the eldest of their four children. Tuck attended Pembroke Country Day School where he played football, baseball and wrestled in high school. He graduated from the University of Kansas where he majored in history and was a member of Phi Delta Theta. In 1969, Tuck enlisted in the Marines where he was recognized for his skillful shooting. After spending many years in Kansas City, he moved to Connecticut with his family in 1985 and lived in the Lordship community of Stratford for the last 37 years. Tuck had a successful career in advertising sales in New York City, spending over a decade at each Lebhar-Friedman and Reader's Digest, ending his long career at SCOUT. Tuck was an avid hunter and fisherman, taking many family trips out West in his youth. He absolutely loved music and had an incredible voice that he was never shy to share. He enjoyed playing golf and became a dedicated ice hockey fan for his children. Tuck treasured many belongings, most notably his Peterborough boat, his Camaros and his gun collection. He loved living in Lordship near the water surrounded by neighborhood friends. His gregarious nature and infectious laugh could light up a room. Tuck's constant optimism, warm smile and beautiful heart will live on in his legacy forever. He will be remembered as an adoring father, caring friend and proud Marine Corps veteran. Tuck is survived by his wife, Janet Merrick; his four children, Jacob (Tukta) Sifers, Jaime (Sydney) Sifers, Jennifer (Steve) Mandes and Julianne (Ross) Fitzpatrick; sister, Sally Sifers, former spouse Thayer Sifers; seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Tuck was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Timmy and his sister Ann. Services are being held on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. by meeting directly at Stanwich Church, 202 Taconic Road, Greenwich, CT 06831. Friends may visit with his family before service time at the church from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: Paws of War (https://pawsofwar.org) For additional information or to share a message of condolence, please visit www.wrmcdonaldfuneralhome.com.
