Edward Fians Obituary

FIANS Edward W. Fians, age 65 of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2011 at the Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford. Edward was born in Providence, R.I., the son of the late Joseph T. Fians, Sr., and Bertha A. (Cameron) Fians. He was a proud graduate of St. Raphael Academy in Pawtucket, R.I. in 1963, where he lettered in three sports. After serving as an x-Ray technician at Woonsocket Hospital in Rhode Island, he attended the University of Rhode Island, where he was a member for the Delta Sigma chapter of Sigma Chi; he graduated in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He completed a masters degree in taxation in 1992 at the University of New Haven. His professional career began with the IRS in Bridgeport where he was a field auditor. He moved on to GTE and Xerox Corporation in Stamford, where he continued his work in the tax field. He retired as a manager in International Tax from Xerox in 2005. He will always be remembered for his kind heart and effusive manner. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Stephanie (Ferry) Fians; a daughter, Kristin M,. (Fians) Sears; two sons, Edward J. Fians and Stephen T. Fians; two brothers, Joseph T. Fians, Jr. and Thomas M. Fians; one sister, Eileen (Fians) Young. Ed leaves three stepgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2011 in the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd., Trumbull and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Friday, July 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gaylord Fund Development Office-Gaylord Hospital, P.O. Box 400, Wallingford, CT 06492.
