Edward Hydis Obituary

Edward J. Hydis
Edward J. Hydis, a lifelong Fairfield resident, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022. He was born in Bridgeport on November 25, 1944, to the late John and Edith Hydis. In his youth, he attended St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic School where he also was an altar boy. After graduating from Roger Ludlowe High School, he voluntarily enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during the height of the Vietnam War. He served in an artillery regiment and specialized in auto mechanics during his two tours. Even though he rarely shared stories of his time in Vietnam, he was very proud of his honorable service to his country.
Edward was a quiet, laid-back man who took great pride in maintaining his childhood home in which he spent his entire life. He was able to take care of any issue that came his way from repairing the family lawnmower and automobiles, including his father's beloved '62 Buick, to ensuring his sister's family would be safe by making her home handicap accessible. He was a professional painter for many years and a talented woodworker. Edward found great peace building and refurbishing furniture, which the family will cherish for years to come.
During his life, he enjoyed unwinding while fishing and clamming on Long Island Sound as well as gardening where he grew tomatoes. Edward was a devoted son, loving brother, generous uncle, an avid Yankee fan and had an unconditional love for animals including his dearly loved childhood dog, Puddles.
Edward is survived by his sister, Sally Burns of Fairfield, nephew Thomas Burns (Lori) of Fairfield and niece, Sandy Librandi (Christopher) of Milford, as well as many grand nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Jack Hydis.
Services and burial with full military honors, will be held at a later date and is under the direction of the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home in Fairfield.

So very sorry to hear about Ed's passing. I remember seeing him regularly when I was at my Grandmother's home (Fran Hydis). He was kind, very quiet, and always hard at work on something. My condolences to the family.

My heartfelt condolences to the family. Eddie (Farmer) was such a kind, soft spoken and generous man. Always with a smile on his face. I know my brother Frank (Spanky) was at the gates to meet him as he entered the gardens above us. Keep him in your hearts and he will always be by your side.
